About

Hi, I’m Jim. I’m a Glaswegian through and through and, on top of my day-job, I’ve a fascination with history and architecture

Over the past twelve centuries or so, Glasgow has changed markedly; from a medieval bishopric to a thriving burgh, from a growing market town to the “Second City of the British Empire”, from a post-industrial city struggling to find its new identity to a modern European Metropolis.

These changes in Glasgow’s physical appearance tell a tale deeper than the buildings that have come and gone. Much of it reflects deeper social, economic, and political change across Scotland, Europe, and the wider world.

Through this project, I will seek to examine how these deep changes to society are mirrored in how Glasgow has changed its face over the centuries.
